StoryTIC is the digital transformation of the Narrativa MultiModal intervention program (NMM). NMM is an intervention program that helps improve oral narrative skills in the Catalan language and is a complement to regular training. The intervention focuses on working on the oral narrative structure and emotional perspective-taking through a set of validated educational strategies, such as the integrated use of question-answer sequences to promote the understanding of the stories, feedback positive and the use of audiovisual supports and multimodality (the involvement of the whole body through gestures and facial expressions) to represent the main actions and emotions described in the stories.

MMN offers a significant level of flexibility so that a variety of professionals (early childhood teachers, speech therapists, etc.) can use the same program with various levels of support.

StoryTIC offers the materials of the NMM program in a digital and playful format, with the option of incorporating activities with augmented reality.

SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE

The Multimodal Narrative intervention program (NMM) has been designed based on scientific evidence and in close collaboration with teams of teachers and speech therapists to adapt it to the Catalan educational context. The NMM intervention has been scientifically validated in the classroom and in individual support with more than 130 children. The results show that in both implementation contexts the children significantly improve their oral narrative skills after the intervention. In addition, in the classroom context there has also been an increase in the oral use of Catalan in the case of bilingual children.

THE QUESTION-ANSWER STRATEGY

The question-answer sequence consists of retelling the story in a sequenced and structured way. Each of these questions is always accompanied by icons, in order to provide a visual reference for each of the key elements of the story.
